Concert Highlights: Westlife Takes Us Back To ’90s Once More

Westlife travels overseas and coast-to-coast to bring in some nostalgia

Westlife has brought sparkling nostalgia to their Filipino fans again. The Smart Araneta Coliseum had turned audiences into a sea of lights last February 20 and 21, 2023 for the band’s “The Wild Dreams” Tour. Reports say that both shows were sold out.

FreebieMNL was in attendance to see the monumental concert in the Big Dome. Here’s a recap of the two-day concert:

Runaway Brides

Two newly-wed brides left their specific weddings early to see the boy band live: Shara Ann Salcedo and Kartryn Leonor. Of this, they were dubbed runaway brides.

They also held a placard saying, “We left our wedding with our bridesmaids to attend your concert.” Westlife had noticed this and invited them over to the stage eventually.

“I Want It That Way”

Another ’90s boyband was in the Philippines on February 20, the Backstreet Boys (BSB).

While on stage, one of the brides held a sign saying she had chosen to watch Westlife over BSB. Westlife then sang a line from BSB’s “I Want It That Way” that became a sing-along session with the audience.

A Kid Sings With Westlife

Westlife invited a lucky kid named Dylan to come on stage. The lucky fan had the chance to sing his favorite song, “Better Man,” with his idols.

ABBA Medley

The tour paid homage to the legendary Swedish supergroup ABBA. They performed a medley of some of its hits like “Mamma Mia,” “Money, Money, Money,” “Take A Chance,” and “Dancing Queen.”

The Greatest Hits

Of course, the night is not complete without the concertgoers singing to the classic and well-loved hits of the boy band. Some of the notable and reminiscent tracks that were performed by the band are “All Over Again,” “I Lay My Love On You,” “My Love,” “When You’re Looking Like That,” and “Uptown Girl.”

Westlife’s “The Wild Dreams Tour” is presented by Wilbros Live.
