It’s a good year to be an SB19 fan.

After gracing with their first-ever full-length album, Get in the Zone, last July, Filipino boy band SB19 now caps off the year at the 6th spot of the much-awaited Billboard’s Top Social 50 Artists of 2020. They surpassed Blackpink and Billie Eilish in the list topped by BTS, EXO, NCT 127, and Ariana Grande.

Not only are they the first Filipino act to achieve this feat, but they are also the first musical act in all of Southeast Asia to do so!

The K-Pop-inspired quintet isn’t new to the Billboard charts, though. In November 2019, SB19 became the first Filipino act to appear on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart, then the following month, they also became the first Filipino act to enter the Billboard Social 50, debuting at #28. They pulled off the same accomplishment when they placed second in the Billboard Social 50 last August, just trailing behind BTS.

Formed and trained by ShowBT Philippines, a subsidiary of Korea’s ShowBT Group, SB19 is comprised of members Ken, Josh, Justin, Sejun, and Stell. They skyrocketed to mainstream success after their hit dance video for their song “Go Up” went viral. They also recently held their first online live concert, with portion of the ticket sales going towards relief operations in light of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.
