YG Entertainment to Debut Youngest Girl Group Ever

YG Entertainment, the Korean talent agency that introduced BLACKPINK to the world is reportedly gearing to launch a new all-female pop group.

“It is true that YG is preparing to launch a new girl group,” a source reported on Hypebae.

YG Entertainment has been vague about the nitty gritty details as of now, but it should be noted that this is the first time the entertainment industry giant is launching a girl group in five years.

Though it’s common practice in the K-Pop industry to start training talents at a young age, this group of ‘elite teens’ will comprise the youngest members to date. To give you an idea, the average age of YG’s first hit girl group, 2NE1, during their debut was 20. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa were all within the ages of 19 and 21 when they were introduced to the industry as per Philstarlife.com.

Well, this elite girl group has big shoes to fill as YG Entertainment’s other girl groups shot to global fame with their cultural impact, luxury brand deals, and record-breaking hits. Well, YG Entertainment does have a good track record as it handles big names in Korean pop culture such as Sechs Kies, Big Bang, Akdong Musician, Winner, iKon, Blackpink, and Treasure as well as actors and actresses including Kang Dong-won, Choi Ji-woo, Cha Seung-won, Lee Sung-kyung, Jin Kyung, Yoo In-na, and Son Na-eun.

One thing’s for sure, given the caliber of talent YG Entertainment has introduced to the world, if you’re a certified K-Pop stan, you’ll surely love this upcoming girl squad. When will the new girl group be revealed? It’s said they’re slated to make their debut within the year.
