Korean Actor Yoo Min Gon Describes Working Relationship With Co-Star Bela Padilla

Yoo Min Go says Bela Padilla made things comfortable on the set!

Korean actor Yoo Min Gon has enjoyed his time working with actress and director Bela Padilla for the Summer Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “Yung Libro Sa Napanood Ko.”

During his recent solo media conference, FreebieMNL asked Yoo Min Gon about his experience working with Padilla, who serves as the lead actress, writer, and director of the film.

According to the Korean actor, he is thankful that Padilla chose him to be his partner for the film. She also made him comfortable on the set.

He shares, “She’s super friendly and she always… because I don’t speak Tagalog, right? So whenever other people are talking in Tagalog, she would translate it into English for me so I can understand and I won’t feel left out.”

Yoo Min Gon also appreciates Padilla’s honesty as a director.

He explains, “As a director, I found her really perfect because whenever I ask her if I can do this or I can do that and if she accepts it, she’ll say go ahead. But if she finds it no, then she’ll always let me know, like, why not to do it, so I can understand why not to do this action. I could see that it was more like play than work and I could see that the other cast are comfortable too because Bela’s friendly. She has a really nice personality.”

The movie tells the story of Lisa (Padilla), a Korean drama fan and a book writer who gets inspired to write a book because of a K-drama she has watched. At a book signing event, she meets Kim Gun Hoo (Yoo Min Go), who introduces himself as a fan of her book.

During Yoo Min Gon’s press conference, FreebieMNL also asked how he was invited to take part in the film.

He narrates, “Bela and I have a mutual friend, another Korean actress. And then, Bela was looking for a Korean lead actor. So, Bela asked my actress friend [if] she knows any and she introduced me to Bela and that’s how we got together.”

Prior to being part of the VIVA movie, Yoo Min Gon did a string of independent movies in Korea.
