Here’s What Director Zig Dulay Has To Say About “Widows’ War” Naysayers

“Alam naman naming iba yung ino-offer,” says Direk Zig about “Widows’ War”

“Widows’ War” director Zig Dulay hopes viewers will give the upcoming Kapuso show a chance.

The GMA Prime series features Bea Alonzo and Carla Abellana as two widows trying to solve the crime behind the death of their respective husbands.

Recently, some netizens aired their pre-judgment about the show saying that it is another tale of “agawan ng asawa.”

Concept creator RJ Nuevas already debunked this comment in a Facebook post.

In a one-on-one interview with Direk Zig during the press conference of “Widows’ War” on June 21 at Matrix Creation Events Place, FreebieMNL asked what he could say about the show’s naysayers.

Direk Zig says, “Ako, sa mga nagsasabi ng mga nega or masama tungkol doon sa show, I think bigyan nila ng pagkakataon na silipin o panoorin yung show, and then after that, saka sila magsalita.

However, Direk Zig is sure that “Widows’ War” is offering something new to the viewers.

“Widows’ War” is set to premiere on July 1 at 8:50 p.m. on GMA Prime. The show belongs to the network’s murder mystery universe, following “Widows’ Web (2022)” and “Royal Blood (2023).”

Something new for Direk Zig

Direk Zig admits that directing “Widows’ War” is also something new for him, as this is the first time he is doing this kind of drama series.

That’s why he made sure to take the challenge seriously and make the most out of it, especially when it comes to the treatment of the show.

It feels like hindi ikaw at kailangan mong baguhin when it comes to framing, composition.

Direk Zig also received praise for the shots and direction seen in the full trailer and music video. But he knows that the challenge does not end there.

But Direk Zig also acknowledges that the success of a show does not only rely on the director but the whole team: the creative team, the production team, and the artists involved in the show.

It’s always the team. Parang you’re only as good as your team in a way na hindi mo pwedeng i-claim na ikaw lang yan kasi alam mo sa puso mo na tinutulungan ka ng buong baranggay, buong team, at marami kayo diyan.”
