Six years after the franchise’s sequel was released, we’re finally getting another one!
After the 2016 release of Now You See Me 2, movie fans didn’t hear anything new about the franchise. But people believed a third film was in the works despite having little evidence. At least until a few days ago, when we got the news that another sequel to the first film is in development. This time, the man behind Zombieland will be at the helm.
The first film follows an FBI agent and an Interpol detective pursuing a team of magicians who pull off bank heists and robberies during their performances and reward their audiences with the money. Despite mixed reviews, it became a box office success, grossing $351.7 million worldwide against a budget of $75 million.
Now You See Me 2 saw the Four Horsemen and their leader Dylan Rhodes recruited by Walter Mabry, a criminal mastermind, to steal a data chip. Again, its mixed reviews didn’t get in the way of its success. It grossed $334 million worldwide.
The franchise features an outstanding group of actors. The cast includes Dave Franco, Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson, and more. Although each character has a distinct personality, they all mesh well.
Ruben Fleischer of ‘Zombieland’ will be at the helm
After years of waiting, the third film is moving forward with director-producer Ruben Fleischer. He’s famous for his action comedies, like Zombieland. He also directed Venom.
“There are three things I love in this world: Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and magic. To have the chance to work with these two talented actors, as well as the rest of the incredible cast of the Now You See Me movies, is a dream come true,” Fleischer said in an interview.

Variety announced that Eric Warren Singer would write the script. We can expect a slightly different take on The Four Horsemen’s story because of this.
