Would you still want to upsize your fries if it costs this much?

A usual trip to your favorite fast-food restaurant will show you that the beloved French fries only cost less than a hundred pesos a pop. So, when a $200 luxury French fries make the headlines and land in the Guinness World Records, one has to ask: what exactly made it so expensive?

The “Crème de la Crème Pommes Fries,” made by the chefs at New York City’s Serendipity3, definitely lives up to its price tag. It’s packed with a plethora of ostentatious ingredients that start with high-grade Upstate Chipperbec potatoes cut into chunky pieces and blanched with J. LeBlanc French Champagne Ardenne Vinegar and… Dom Perignon Champagne? Yep, these fancy fries are showered with luxurious champagne that costs upwards of P11,000 here in the Philippines!

But that’s just the beginning. The potato slices are then deep-fried in premium French goose fat before being seasoned with “Guerande Truffle salt, and tossed in Urbani Summer oil.” Once they make it onto the plate, they are then topped with shaved Italian Black Summer Truffles and shaved Crete Senesi Pecorino, or cheese made from the milk of sheep that “”graze on the clay-rich hills of Crete Senesi, dotted with black truffles foraged from valleys and forests in Volterra and Miniato, Italy,” per Food & Wine.

Oh, and it’s sprinkled with 23-karat gold dust too, because why not?

Finishing the dish is a side of Mornay dipping sauce made from “udder cream from Jersey cows, Black Truffle Butter, and Gruyere Truffled Swiss Raclette.”

The extravagant recipe turns the usual side dish into the centerpiece of your meal, and it’s courtesy of corporate chef Frederick Schoen-Kiewert and creative director Joe Calderone.

If by any chance, you’d want a full course off their menu, you should know that Serendipity3 also holds three other Guinness World Records for the most expensive sandwichmilkshake, and dessert, which the restaurant sells for $214 (about P10,700), $100 (about P5,000), and $25,000 (about P1.25 million), respectively.
