Every gamer’s go-to drink is about to get an extra kick.
If you enjoy both an ice-cold can of beer and a bottle of the classic lemon-lime carbonated drink, then get a gulp of this: PepsiCo, the makers of Mountain Dew, have entered into a partnership with Boston Beer Company to make HARD MTN DEW, a sugar-free flavored malt beverage with 5% alcohol by volume.
Initial images show that HARD MTN DEW will come in three flavors: original, watermelon, and black cherry.
According to Boston Beer, the boozy beverage will be “marketed to adults of legal age and merchandized consistently with other alcohol beverages,” while PepsiCo has created a new entity to trade, deliver, and market the product. It is projected to hit shelves by early 2022.
HARD MTN DEW is PepsiCo’s next push for the Mountain Dew brand to delve into other categories following its release of Mtn Dew Rise Energy, which packs the usual seltzer drink with antioxidants and vitamins, a couple of months back.
“For 80 years MTN DEW has challenged the status quo, bringing bold flavors and unmatched beverage innovation to millions of fans,” PepsiCo Beverages North America CEO Kirk Tanner said to the press. we are thrilled at the opportunity to create HARD MTN DEW that maintains the bold, citrus flavor fans know and expect.”
