Budget Sushi: How To Satisfy Your Cravings Even On A Shoestring Budget

You don’t have to break the bank for your favorite Japanese food.

We all have days when we want to give in to our food cravings. Unfortunately, our wallets get in the way sometimes. In my case, I often find myself craving sushi, even when I’m on a budget.

I have a long list of favorite Japanese restaurants. Luckily, it includes options for when my budget is somewhat limited.

For the price-conscious, here’s where you can get sushi on a shoestring budget.

1. Kanzen Sushi Roll

Where can you get 40 pieces of mixed maki for PHP420? The answer is Kanzen Sushi Roll.

Their rolls feature imitation crab with various treatments. There’s the usual California maki, of course. But you can also find rolls with Japanese chili flakes or okonomiyaki sauce.

Kanzen Sushi Roll’s main branch is in Marikina but has several stores across the metro. It’s also available via Grab Food and Food Panda.

2. Gryn Wasabi Sushi Bar

Like Kanzen, the majority of Gryn Wasabi Sushi Bar’s rolls feature imitation crab. Their bigger platters have more variety. They include tamago and spam sushi. Gryn Wasabi also offers party packages with sushi, japchae, fried chicken, and desserts.

What makes Gryn Wasabi so great is their take on sushi cakes. You can celebrate birthdays with their number cakes. You can also get their sushi cakes in the shape of a heart, star, or something a little more phallic.

Gryn Wasabi has branches in Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Metro Manila, and Pampanga.

3. Sushi Bangs

In the market for a budget sushi kiosk with more to offer than crabsticks? Look no further than Sushi Bangs. Their menu includes a wide variety of rolls with crabsticks, salmon, and tuna. They also offer rice bowls, sashimi, and gunkan.

Sushi Bangs has several sister companies that serve other Asian fare. These include Choego Chicken, KenDi Munchies, Tokyo Tempura, and Yummy Tokyo. If you’re lucky, you’ll find a Sushi Bangs branch on Grab Food that offers menu items from one or more of them.

4. JAAM House of Sushi

If you’re looking for variety, JAAM House of Sushi is the way to go.

It’s the most expensive sushi delivery on this list. Some may even argue that it no longer falls into the budget category. But if you consider the quality and quantity of what you’re getting, the price is worth it. Some restaurants will charge upward of P300 for six slices of sashimi. JAAM gives you 20 or more slices for P520.

JAAM House of Sushi is under JAAM Seafoods Trading. It’s a direct supplier of various seafood that’s been in business for over 20 years. It’s why they’re able to keep their prices affordable while delivering premium products.

You can check out JAAM House of Sushi’s menu on their Instagram page.
