Tucked away in Banawe, Quezon City, this gem is a gastronomic delight.
There are many Chinese food restaurants in Metro Manila. Despite this, some can set themselves apart. One such standout is Kimpo Teahouse!
Authenticity and simplicity
Unlike many Chinese food restaurants, the facade of Kimpo Teahouse is quite simple. So much so that many find it easy to miss. But it’s pretty well-known to foodies and within the Filipino-Chinese community! The restaurant has been around for over a decade. One of the first things anyone will notice about it is the vast, spacious parking.
The facade is nondescript. It’s a neat, grey-ish one-story structure with the restaurant name in lights. When people enter, they will get hit with a feel best described as “karinderya.” That’s a great contrast since their food is pretty luxe in quality!
Sumptuous delights at Kimpo Teahouse
My partner and I ordered quite a chunk of their offerings to get a feel of the menu. At some point, our table looked like a mini-feast for an entire family!
The first thing that caught my eye on the menu was the radish cake. Ordering it was a good decision: it melted in my mouth. We also ordered white chicken rice, a wonderful, garlicky (but not too oily) dish. Salted and spicy spareribs were also delectable.
Of course, we also ordered buns and siomai! We had the asado siopao, bola bola siopao, shark’s fin dumplings, and shrimp balls.
They were all flavorful in their own right. Finally, we went straight for their take on yang chow rice. What a wonderful experience that was in itself!
For dessert, their offerings included mango sago, which was a great way to top off such a rich meal.
But don’t just take my word for it. Head to Kimpo Teahouse today!
