A new plant-based topping has arrived at Pizza Hut!
Last year, the American restaurant chain partnered with Beyond Meat to release Beyond Italian Sausage, “an authentic blend of Italian seasonings, bringing a taste that’s Beyond Belief.”
Now, Pizza Hut is testing another plant-based topping: Beyond Meat’s version of the fan-favorite pepperoni that’s “crisped and seasoned to savory perfection.”
“We know there is strong consumer demand for pepperoni, and we’re thrilled to unveil a game-changing plant-based pepperoni topping as the next chapter in our innovation-focused partnership with Pizza Hut,” Dariush Ajami, Beyond Meat’s Chief Innovation Officer, said.
For now, Pizza Hut’s Beyond Pepperoni is exclusively available at almost 70 locations in the USA, including select stores in New York, Georgia, Texas, and Florida. The plant-based pepperoni will also be available for a limited time only.
The new topping, made from “simple, plant-based ingredients,” was co-developed by Pizza Hut and Beyond Meat to cater to customers’ preferences. They said that the pepperoni was made from peas and rice, and contains “no GMOs, soy, gluten, hormones, antibiotics or cholesterol.”
“Pizza Hut’s new Beyond Pepperoni Pizza delivers the same iconic taste as our original pepperoni that fans know and love,” Georgeanne Erickson, Pizza Hut’s Chief Brand Officer, said.
“With this new plant-based option, we’re giving customers more choices and more reasons to love Pizza Hut.”
