Whether it’s to hang ten over tall waves or just to hang out on its white sand beaches, Siargao is the place to be. So many of our fond vacation stories are tied with the surfing capital, and not just because of its beaches — its array of great food spots that bring out the best of oriental flavors are also worth the trip.

But that’s something we can’t take right now, can we? If you’re feeling bummed out by not being able to enjoy good old Siargao food while out on the beachfront, here’s some stellar news: Siargao’s Shaka Café has opened up a shop earlier this month right here in Metro Manila!

Located in a nice little nook in Burgos Circle in Bonifacio Global City’s Forbes Town, Shaka Café is now up and ready to serve city dwellers their crowd-favorite and vegan-friendly smoothie bowls.

Health-conscious folks would be delighted to know that their staple offerings like the Green Out bowl are packed to the brim with the good stuff: malunggay, cucumber, spirulina, spinach, ginger, pineapple, and mango, all for PhP300. Craving something a little more decadent yet delectable? Even their burgers are still good for your body.

Take for example their Sloppy Jose for PhP380, which is squeezed with two Rojo y Blanco frijol patties pressed (basically red and white beans) pressed with a pile of corn, green chilies, fresh caramelized pineapple, and tomato and drizzled with jalapeño salsa, cashew vegan queso sauce, and guacamole. Now that’s a mouthful to type, more so to take a bite off!

But don’t worry — just down it with a glass of their signature smoothies like the Tropoloco, a fresh blend of pineapple, mango, banana, coconut flesh, and coconut water. That’s basically a trip through the archipelago in a sip.

Too timid to dine in? Shaka Café has made its menu available online so willing customers can place their orders for pickup, and soon, for delivery too. Just head to this link and browse through the available selections in their Burgos Circle branch. They’re open daily from 6 AM to 9 PM.

Originally located in Siargao’s General Luna, Shaka Café has spread to other parts of the country, namely Panglao in Bohol and Basidot in Cebu. The café is a haven for laidback and laissez-faire tourists who want to have a good time, as is symbolized in the name which means ”hang loose” in surfing terms.
