A Guide to Going Out to the Post-ECQ Philippines

Life after the Enhanced Community Quarantine isn’t going back to normal. Whether we like it or not, we have entered the ‘new normal’– a time when social distancing is the new hangout term. And just as much as we’re excited to go out after the ECQ, safety is the game we must play. Here is your guide to going out in a post-ECQ society:

Avoid crowded places

Once the ECQ has been lifted, people will start going out even more. Chances are, places will be crowded. This means that we must continue observing social distancing to avoid acquiring the disease or better yet, avoid crowded places. You’ll never know who is infected so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

There will be queues everywhere

Since establishments will limit the number of people inside, expect long queues everywhere you go. So, if you are used to allotting 30 minutes of waiting time before boarding the MRT before, expect queues that could last for about 2 to 3 hours post-ECQ. This is why you’ve got to…

Take a ton of patience with you

Commuting or going out to get supplies will take much longer than it used to so take a ton of patience with you as you have to wait patiently for your turn.

You have to follow safety guidelines everywhere you go

Every establishment will have one so brace yourself for these safety guidelines.

Ramp up your personal hygiene habits

Equip yourself with an on-the-go hygiene kit because having clean hands is everything!

People will continue contactless transactions

Whether dining in or doing the grocery shopping, people will continue to avail as many contactless services as possible. It’s easier, safer, more convenient, and let them skip long queues!

Don’t go out when not needed

Just. don’t.

Time and again, the Filipino has proven to be resilient. The COVID-19 is no exception. We know, this too shall pass. We must remain hopeful that even in the post-ECQ society, we can still live our lives to the fullest.
