Over the past year, a lot of people have had to work from home. In turn a lot of people have decided to go on a ‘workation’ or work from vacation. People have set up bases in their provinces or beach houses. Some even have moved temporarily to the beach. Lucky them, right?

According to psychologist Dr. Randy Dellosa, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it can help with the workforce’s mental health, as it helps them deal with stress.

Dr. Dellosa told GMA’s Pinoy MD, Dahil nasa vacation place tayo, habang nagta-trabaho pwede tayo mag-take ng breaks during our work time para makapag-enjoy at relax, then we can go back to our work feeling more relax, feeling more refreshed, more motivated, more productive, more creative. (Because we are in a vacation place, we can take breaks while working in order to enjoy and relax. Then we can go back to work feeling more relaxed, refreshed, motivated, productive, and creative.”

Dr. Delloso said working from the beach actually has good effects for one’s mental health. Long hours working on a computer and staring at a screen can bring out health problems like migraines, tension headaches, stress, and back pain.

But with a relaxing view of the beach, “nakaka-relax iyong far vision natin. Iyong pagiging far sighted natin ay nakakatulong sa pag-relax. Nakakatingin tayo sa malayo. And then dahil nare-relax ang mata natin, nare-relax din ang katawan natin (it’s relaxing to our vision. Being far-sighted helps us relax. We look to the distance. And then because our eyes are relaxed, our bodies become relaxed as well,” he added.
There you have it! While you’re still working from home, you might want to consider moving to the province for your mental health. It’s definitely cheaper, and far less populated. The view is pretty nice, too.
