Through a brilliantly edited minute-and-a-half video, this is the heartfelt point that Nike gets across in their newest advertisement titled “You Can’t Stop Us,” which aptly arrives just as major sports leagues are making their comeback after being sidelined by the coronavirus.
Just a mere 24 hours from its online debut, it’s already racked more than 8.8 million views on YouTube. You can watch Nike’s ad here:
Narrated by international soccer star and influential icon Megan Rapinoe, the spot also features other professional athletes like LeBron James, Serena Williams, Colin Kaepernick, Naomi Osaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Caster Semenya, Eliud Kipchoge, and Giannis Antetokounmpo through 72 repurposed sequences that seamlessly segue into each other in a split-screen fashion. The clip also features some of the most remarkable moments in sports history, notably the Black Lives Matter movement and the global paralysis caused by COVID-19, to send the message that sports all over the world will be back stronger than ever.
The ad was also broadcasted live from the Walt Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida, as part of the NBA’s first tipoff since being forced to postpone its regular season.
