The couple of four years quietly welcomed their first child earlier this year.
They might have portrayed an on-screen couple once, but this time, Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender is dealing with the real thing, and they have even taken it one step further by welcoming their first child together.
In an interview with People published on Wednesday, the very low-key Vikander shared her discovered as she entered motherhood. “I now have a whole new understanding of life in general,” the Tomb Raider star shared to the magazine. “That’s pretty beautiful, and obviously will give a lot to any of my work in the future.”
Although the couple never publicly addressed the Swedish star’s pregnancy, they were photographed with a baby in tow during their latest trip to Ibiza, the site of their wedding, last August.
Nonetheless, Vikander still declined to delve deeper into details, preferring to stay private. “No, I think I’ll wait with that one,” says Vikander when asked to describe life with her firstborn. “I’m enjoying finding it out in the moment right now, more than anything.”
Vikander and Fassbender first met in 2014 on the set of the heartbreaking film The Light Between Oceans, where the two played an on-screen husband and wife who finds a baby lost at sea. Following a strictly secret engagement, the two exchanged wedding vows at the luxurious La Granja farmstead resort in Ibiza in October 2017 before escaping to Italy for their honeymoon.
While promoting Tomb Raider back in 2017, Vikander bared to Elle during a cover story interview about how having a future child is going to be the “wonder of her world.”
“I’ve always wanted kids. I’ve never been pregnant, but I hope to have a family one day. And it’s both the expectation and knowing that it should be the greatest experience of my life—and suddenly from one day to another, it’s a reality; it’s a new chapter of your life,” Vikander said.
