It looks like Android photo users can join FaceTime calls very soon. Yes, gone will be the days Android users will be left out during voice and video calls made through the former iOS-exclusive app.

Yes! Apple made this announcement during their 2021 Worldwide Developers Conference that the upcoming iOS 15 update will include major changes to FaceTime, one of most exciting new features of which is by making it accessible through the web.

Yes, you read that right! An iOS user can start or schedule a call and send the shareable link to that call to Android and Windows users so they can join in even if they don’t have the FaceTime app. Android and Windows users will only need to paste the link on any browser available on their phones to access the FaceTime call.

Apple also assures that these calls will still remain end-to-end encrypted. That means third parties will be barred from accessing your messages through the app. What a relief!

To add to this awesome update, Apple also said that they will introduce spatial audio to FaceTime so that the audio will “sound as if they are coming from where the person is positioned on the screen.”

Lastly, FaceTime calls can also be made on Portrait mode. You can even blur your backgrounds if you want. If you’re concerned about your screen view, worry not. Users will get a grid view so that more people on the call will appear on your screen. Isn’t that just awesome?

You can expect this update to be available this July. A lot of people prefer calling over FaceTime, and this update means everyone can join in FaceTime calls very soon. Time to schedule a video call with your friends from all over the world then!
