You’re now one step closer to bringing your home revamping plans to life as IKEA Philippines just announced that the first batch of products has finally landed on their soon-to-open flagship store!
“Today, IKEA Philippines celebrates an important milestone! Our first batch of IKEA range has finally arrived in IKEA Pasay City,” the brand wrote on their social media page on Monday. “We can’t wait to unbox these and make them available to the many Filipinos!”
While the much-awaited opening of IKEA’s first store in the Philippines – and its largest in the world to date – is yet to be given an official date, fans of the Swedish furniture brand were still stoked to see that the first shipment of products has finally made it to their location at the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
Photos posted by IKEA Philippines on Monday showed several containers that are filled to the ceiling with sealed crates that were unloaded and sorted by large forklifts.
The upcoming branch is reported to span about 65,000 square meters of floor space which will also house its massive 850-seater in-house restaurant. Speaking to social media influencer James Deakin during an online show IKEA Philippines Market Development Manager Georg Platzer said that IKEA is set to launch its e-commerce store this July 2021. It will come ahead of its physical opening which will happen nine weeks after, or some time around the fourth quarter of 2021.
IKEA has also bared plans last year to hire over 500 Filipino employees to run its flagship store.
Present in over 52 countries and having over 400 stores, IKEA is popular for its clean and chic Scandinavian-styled furniture sets and interior pieces. Aside from home buys, though, IKEA patrons are also keen to bite into the IKEA Restaurant’s famous Swedish meatballs.
