CCP’s Pasinaya Returns This February

The Cultural Center of the Philippines brings back Pasinaya live!

The arts played such a vital role during the lockdowns that live events were sorely missed by all. One such extravaganza is the Pasinaya of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP)! It’s an art festival that delves into multiple disciplines from visuals, performances, and more. February is going to be a very busy time for artists as the festival expands to multiple venues all over CCP.

“We are breaking away from the notion that CCP is just the building,” Dennis N. Marasigan, the CCP’s artistic director, told Tatler Asia. “We are emphasizing that CCP can be anywhere.”

With the overall theme “Piglas Sining,” this year’s Pasinaya still has a suggested donation price (PHP50) but is essentially pay-what-you-can still. The goal is for everyone who passes through to do as much or as little as they want.

Experience Everything at Pasinaya

All of the art disciplines represented at the festival have some kind of activity, screening, and/or show (as applicable) that guests can participate in. There are also resource persons, teachers, and artists teaching workshops! All of that is covered by the one-time donation.

PASINAYA BANNER 2

February 3, Friday:

Pagtitipon – The Kaisa sa Sining (KSS) regional partners from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have dozens of regional partners and they’re gathering at Pasinaya. This program is by the Cultural Exchange Department with the goal of making CCP linkages and cooperation with organizations in the Philippines’ various regions.

February 4 & 5, Saturday & Sunday:

Palihan and Palabas – A parade and special program will open everything at the CCP Front Lawn. Palihan in particular involves numerous workshops, while Palabas includes a vast amount of shows with thousands of artists from varying fields.

Palitan – This happens both online through Zoom and in real life at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Black Box Theater). This features a partnership with art spaces, galleries, and museums to highlight collaborations. Paseo Museo in full swing! Participating art spaces seem like a bit of a trip? Get on a hop-on, hop-off bus!

This is the 18th year of the Pasinaya since its iteration!

To participate, simply register at Vicente Sotto Street or the Bukaneg side of the Front Lawn. You can go as early as 6:30AM from February 3 to 5! For more information, visit the official website of CCP!
