And another Filipina beauty is set to represent the country on the world stage. Dindi Pajares was voted Miss Supranational Philippines last July 24, according to ABS-CBN News Online. Surprisingly, her win was announced ahead of the Miss World Philippines pageant coronation night.
The 28-year-old statuesque beauty was crowned before the Miss World Philippines finals competition slated for August 8 because the Miss Supranational pageant is only a few weeks away. It’s scheduled for August 21 in Poland.
How was Pajares chosen? Well, she bested other candidates by receiving the highest number of votes from her fellow candidates. Other beauties such as Ruffa Nava, Kathleen Paton, and Megan Deen Campbell were considered, but Pajares bagged the prize.
If you’re wondering why Pajares was crowned ahead of the original coronation night, well, there’s a good reason behind the surprise announcement. The Miss World Philippines coronation night was originally slated for July 25. However, it has been rescheduled to August 8 after the government placed the National Capital Region and four other areas under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions.
The Miss Supranational pageant was first held in 2009, and since then, one Filipina has won the coveted title. Mutya Datul remains the first and only Filipina to be crowned Miss Supranational. Every year contestants from almost 80 countries participate in the contest which focuses on grace and natural beauty among its contestants. The pageant’s motto is: Glamour, fashion and natural beauty.
This isn’t Pajares’ first venture into the beauty pageant world. She first represented Bataan in the 2011 Miss Philippines Earth competition. Since then, she’s joined the Binibining Pilipinas pageant twice.
Will Pajares be the next Miss Supranational? We’ll have to wait and see. She only has about 3 weeks to prepare, but she will surely put up a fight.
