Get What You Need at MCGI’s Free Store

To commemorate the life and works of the late Brother Eli Soriano, the Members Church of God International organized an event called “The Legacy Continues”. From April 4 to 10, their community held a feeding program, opened their MCGI Free Store, and gave out assistance to the needy. The MCGI Free Store went viral online for allowing anyone to stop by and pick up groceries for free.

The True Essence of Giving and Receiving

MCGI Free Store’s slogan is, “Get what you need, not what you want,” and is a godsend for anyone who is struggling to make ends meet especially during the pandemic. This was a joint initiative of Bro. Elia Soriano and Bro. Daniel Razon which started as an e-commerce site for their Church members, but has recently been open to the public.

Get Everything for Free

Anyone who is in need can stop by and shop for essential items, completely free of charge. They had everyday household products like dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent, toiletries, and non-perishable items like noodles, canned food, and instant coffee. Of course, there’s a limit to how many items people can take to be able to serve more.

An Act of Service

Lovely Sotto, whose post went viral on Facebook, remarked that it was heartwarming that their church was able to be of service. Even the less fortunate were considerate of others, being quick to get what they need to give chance to those waiting to get in. She writes in her caption, Ang mayaman pag tumulong sa kapwa, mabuti yun. Pero pag ang mahirap tumulong sa kapwa mahirap, extraordinary yun.” [When the rich help the poor, that’s a good thing. But a poor person extending help is extraordinary.]
