Heads up! There’s a FREE K-Drama scriptwriting workshop you can attend this month!

Admit it or not, K-Dramas have raised the bar when it comes to entertainment, not just for us Filipinos but for neighboring Asian countries as well. Of course, we can’t deny the presence of the undeniably good-looking actors that makes our viewing experience even better. But what actually makes a good drama?

Before we became invested with the actors we now consider our stans, we came to love the narrative of the drama itself. Yep, the unpredictable, unique, and heartwarming storylines which make them even more relatable – especially for us Pinoys.

Thankfully, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines are holding a scriptwriting workshop this month. And it’s FREE for all the K-Drama enthusiasts, aspiring screenwriters, production students, industry professionals, and general K-Culture followers out there! .

Park Ji-hyun – the screenwriter behind the hit drama “All About Eve” and Best Writer awardee during the KBS Drama Awards in 1997 and 2001 – will join the webinar to delve deeper into the world of scriptwriting.

Apart from a discussion on Korea’s Scriptwriting Education Program, she would also be conducting basic K-Drama scriptwriting workshop for those who are looking at writing their next masterpiece.

Meanwhile, Rona Co – the woman who wrote the well-loved Filipino teleseryes such as “Forevermore,” “The Legal Wife,” “Ngayon at Kailanman,” and “A Love to Last” – will also join the event to shed light on the current situation of TV drama production in the country.

Acclaimed writer for film and television and K-Drama enthusiast Joey Reyes, on the other hand, will also take part in the event to discuss the changing narratives during the pandemic and the impact of K-Dramas in the local scriptwriting scene.

Apart from scriptwriting, the event will also tackle the promotional side of K-Dramas with an esteemed keynote speaker who has 26 years of marketing strategy experience under KBS Media – Lee Hyo-young – joining the event.

According to the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, the event aims to spark conversation and inspiration between participants and keynote speakers” as enrichment for local TV writers and producers.

The event, dubbed “Rediscovering the Korean Creative Industry,” will stream on the official YouTube channel of the Korean Cultural Center at 1 PM this June 30.
