Healing K-Dramas to Make You Feel Better During Hard Times

In partnership with FanLife

K-dramas tend to be versatile: you start watching comedy but then you finish it crying, or you go into an action series but then laugh out loud at random moments. No matter the genre, K-dramas will bring you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, and I guess that’s what makes it so endearing to watch – because it mimics life experiences.

There’s a type of K-drama that can be healing to its watchers. It’s not really a genre because it can be about anything, really. It’s just that the character in these types of dramas go through something and then persevere. Even though we’re only watching it, it still serves as a reminder that everything will be better eventually.

If you’re going through hard times, these healing dramas are worth checking out:

It’s Okay to Not Be Okay

It’s Okay to Not Be Okay follows the lives of a children’s book author and an employee at a psychiatric hospital and his autistic brother. All three went through traumatic experiences in childhood and together they will find a way to heal. While this has a bit of suspense to you’ll feel all warm inside after finishing this drama.

Still 17

This drama benefits from being cute and fluffy because it’s a good balance to what the characters are going through. The two main leads in this drama may be 30 years old, but both of them went through something that left them emotionally stuck at the age of 17. The two find comfort in each other as they deal with their own issues.

Reply 1988

Reply 1988 has a slice of life story that will immerse you in the lives of the characters. It follows five tightly knit families who go through the ups and downs of teenage life and adulthood. What makes this a good healing drama is that their experiences mimic real life, making it so easy to relate to its characters. If you want something to warm your heart, then this drama (and the others in the Reply series) is just for you.

It’s Okay, That’s Love

It’s Okay, That’s Love may be a love story, but the lessons this drama imparts will heal you. The two main leads are a writer and a psychiatrist, and both of them are living with a mental illness. Together they come to terms with their trauma, which opens up a road to emotional healing.

My Mister

My Mister may be heavy on the feels and you might feel frustrated at some points because of all the hurt the two main character go through, but finishing this is worth it because it’ll give you hope in the end. Since this is about two scarred souls, this drama is all about healing.

All dramas are available on Netflix.
