Love the Early 2000s? Kick Off Your Nostalgia With These 5 Films

Nowadays, things seem more complicated and complex as we bother ourselves with piles of work, depressing news, our relationships, or you know, just everything.

Don’t you wish we could go back to the days when films were still made for entertainment and fun? The early 2000s undoubtedly gave us this kind of slapstick enjoyment, so here are a couple films to remind you of a simpler, funnier time.

Not Another Teen Movie (2001)

A parody for the ages, Not Another Teen Movie was the ultimate 2000s high school movie mash-up between popular teen romcom flicks She’s All That, 10 Things I Hate About You, Pretty in Pink, and many more. You’ll be in for a good laugh (and a good sneak peek of Chris Evans in his early years) when you watch this classic!

School of Rock (2003)

Jack Black brings us this rock-and-roll comedy that stars a handful of celebrities like Joan Cusack, Sarah Silverman, and Miranda Cosgrove. It revolves around a deadbeat musician finding his rock-and-roll soul by (secretly) teaching students at the local prep school. The film gives the best of rock music and also showcases the talent of its young actors.

Bring It On (2000)

Cheerleading movie legend Bring It On, the first of many sequels, was led by female powerhouses Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union. The premise features the extremely competitive world of cheerleading and everything in between. Grab your girlfriends (or boyfriends!) to watch the Toros and Clovers battle it out in this humorous flick.

White Chicks (2004)

One of the most beloved comedy films in the history of comedy films, White Chicks offers the ridiculousness of the 2000s with its lively plot. Two undercover black cops masquerade as white twin heiresses in the Hamptons for the weekend and basically bring pandemonium to the affluent neighborhood. While the jokes and gags in the movie definitely might not pass this day and age’s moral meter, we can absolutely laugh at yesterday’s humor.

Miss Congeniality (2000)

Sandra Bullock headlines this entertaining early 2000s film as awkward secret agent Grace Hart, assigned to participate undercover in the Miss United States beauty pageant. Bullock is not a stranger to the genre and expectedly brings the best of her craft in making us laugh and smile.

Honorable Mention: Mean Girls (2004)

Who could forget this life-changing cult classic? Mean Girls didn’t make the list, because it is the list. It’s the blueprint, the way, the truth, life. And we can’t deny that we’d watch this movie over and over again because of its genius meme-able lines, hilarious acting, and surprising heart.
