The event was a celebration of street art and culture.
On May 21 and 22, Meeting of Styles 2022 Philippines took place at the Anonas LRT City Center Parking Grounds. Over 50 artists came to decorate the walls with their beautiful pieces. Various guests were also in attendance. Some of them were guests, others were fans of those gifted individuals. Regardless of who they were or why they were there, the graffiti styles impressed them all.
Artist Tripp 63 of Carrot Bombing is one of the organizers. His shop sells alternative art and graffiti supplies. (You can contact him on Facebook, Instagram, and even Twitter.) A quick talk with him revealed that Meeting of Styles Philippines takes place every year.
Tripp 63 says he and his team kept things low-key for the last two years. Although they would’ve liked to go big, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic kept them from doing so. They had to do things on a smaller scale in 2020 and 2021. They didn’t like that very much, because they had to limit the number of guests and participants. But when things returned to some semblance of normal, they jumped at the chance to return to the LRT 2. Or, to be more specific, the Anonas Station.

That place’s parking lot has become associated with Meeting of Styles Philippines. The local version of this international event has taken place there for years. So when people showed up there last month, the event had a “homecoming” feel to it. Some of those present even got a little emotional.
The best local street artists like Egg Fiasco and SYN showed up. So did international legend RETRO of TITS Crew. He put together a piece with tropical colors, reminiscent of a garden with birds of paradise. Aside from the art, there were streetwear popups. Urban music also filled the air. It served as the soundtrack for sticker swapping, which many felt was a highlight.
The story behind Meeting of Styles 2022
Meeting of Styles is an international network of graffiti artists and fans. It exists to legitimize graffiti artists and their work. It’s a non-profit organization, with local affiliates that sponsor graffiti events. Such events have taken place in over 16 countries. Local affiliates face many challenges, like local politics and the need for sponsors.
The very first Meeting of Styles event took place in 1997, under the name “Wall Street Meeting.” By 2000, it became so famous that 10,000 people flocked to that year’s edition. But organizers had to stop because they ran into trouble with the authorities.
The current organization was founded in 2002. It has since sponsored over 250 events worldwide.
