Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibit To Open In Manila

Recreations of Vatican City’s most famous artwork will be displayed at Estancia Mall in Pasig

Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel is one of the most iconic works of art in the world, and this 2023, art aficionados in Manila will have the opportunity to see the masterpiece without flying to Rome in Italy.

Titled “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition,” it will feature over 30 recreations of Michelangelo’s famous paintings. These high-definition recreations will be exhibited at the Estancia Mall in Pasig from July 1 to September 30, 2023.

“Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition” offers 34 high-quality, actual-sized panels of the Biblical frescoes created by the Italian artist for the Papal Chapel. Each image is accompanied by informative signage and audio guides are available to rent for those who want to learn more about Vatican’s treasured art that took over four and a half years to complete.

Visitors will even smell frankincense, patchouli, and sandalwood as they tour Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel Exhibit at the second floor of Estancia Mall.

Among the artworks that can be seen up close include “The Creation of Adam,” “The Fall of Man and the Expulsion from Paradise,” “David and Goliath,” and “The Great Flood.” Even the mural of “The Last Judgment,” which features over 400 figures, is reproduced to actual size.

This is a rare chance to see the Sistine Chapel’s famous frescoes, up close and personal without overcrowded tour groups and hours of queueing. When tourists visit Michaelangelo’s masterpiece at the Vatican City, they are forbidden from taking photos of the brilliant artworks that are situated 60 feet above them on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

The Manila exhibit has been designed to take visitors on a journey through the Sistine Chapel’s history and Michelangelo’s art. Patrons will be able to experience the work in a new way – with a dazzling array of digital reproductions that bring Michelangelo’s frescoes to life. They will also be able to see every masterful brushstroke and appreciate every detail of Michelangelo’s artistic technique.

For those who have never seen the Sistine Chapel, this exhibit will provide insight into one of the most celebrated works of art in history. The exhibition covers the timeless themes of creation, destruction, and redemption that are woven into Michelangelo’s artwork.

Even if one is not an art buff or a historian, he can still appreciate the beauty and grandeur of the Sistine Chapel frescoes. The exhibition’s digital reproductions offer a vivid, high-resolution portrayal of Michelangelo’s colors and details. Moreover, visitors can take as much time as they need to admire the art, allowing them to fully absorb the majesty of the Sistine Chapel sans airplane ride.

This traveling exhibit has been on tour worldwide since 2016 including stops in Australia, China, England, Poland, and the United States.

Tickets for “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition” are now available through the Sistine Chapel Philippines website.
