Piolo and Alessandra’s pairing in the film might be a first, but we’re already hoping it won’t be the last.
We’d be fools not to admit that Alessandra de Rossi has become a cornerstone of the romantic-comedy genre in the Philippines. Adding Piolo Pascual’s charming wit into the mix only makes the upcoming rom-com flick from Netflix, My Amanda, a more must-see movie.
On Wednesday, the streaming giant finally gave audiences the first glimpse into the tandem with the film’s first official trailer.
“When it comes to soulmates, is there ever really an ‘in between’?” the caption read, leading fans into the ever-baffling limbo between love and friendship. The trailer shows the best of both those worlds too: TJ (Piolo Pascual) talks about a special someone that “must be kept from the world for now,” while Amanda (Alessandra de Rossi) still reels from past heartbreaks brought about by “caring too much for other people’s feelings.”
Feel free to relate to the emotional rollercoaster by watching the trailer below:
While this is the first time that the two will spark an on-screen romance for a Netflix-exclusive release, Pascual and de Rossi have worked in previous projects as well. Pascual’s Spring Films, a production company he owns with veteran director Joyce Bernal, produced 2017’s acclaimed rom-com Kita Kita, which starred de Rossi. They also worked together in the ABS-CBN series Since I Found You back in 2018.
My Amanda, which is also produced by Spring Films, also marks de Rossi’s directorial debut. The rest of the film’s ensemble includes Luz Valdez, KC Montero, and Helga Krapf.
The film is scheduled for a global exclusive release on Netflix on July 15, 2021.
