We get busy with work, family, and other commitments, which makes it hard to truly soak in and celebrate the feeling of the season. While it can be a little disheartening, have no fear! There are a couple of quick ways to get you feeling jolly right in time for the holidays. If you find that you’re lacking in Christmas spirit, try these few tips.

Crank up the Christmas playlist

Feeling like the Grinch? Here's how to get into the holiday spirit

Listening to a Christmas playlist is a surefire way to feel the good vibes this December! There’s nothing quite like hearing the same old tunes over and over again. In a way, because we hear the same songs every year, the music sounds and feels familiar. It signals the beginning of Christmas, which helps to build anticipation for the joy to come.

Find a playlist on Spotify or Youtube and loop it in the background throughout your daily activities; you’ll find yourself humming to all the classic holiday songs soon!

Decorate to your heart’s content

If you’re feeling a bit down in the dumps this month, bust out the decor, or buy new ones, and start decorating! Holiday decor helps foster the feeling of Christmas because it’s something you see and smell everyday. Ribbons, Christmas trees, sparkly ornaments, and scented candles all help you feel the holidays through your senses, and there’s nothing more powerful than that.

Our suggestion? Make your decor overwhelming, like it’s Christmas in every room. That way you’ll never forget what season it is!

Participate in events

We know it might seem like a drag, but there is a merit to attending Yuletide celebrations. Sharing good times and company with others is a huge part of the spirit of Christmas. It’s a time where everyone comes together despite their busy lives and schedules. So if you get invited to an office Christmas party or a simple Christmas dinner, just go! You might end up enjoying it.

P.S. when you hang out with people who are dripping in holiday cheer, it kind of rubs off.

Shop for your loved ones

It’s not the holidays without last-minute Christmas shopping. The season of giving is all about, well, giving! And when you shop for others in mind, it really puts you in that merry mindset. More than that, holiday shopping gives you an excuse to go out and experience the hustle and bustle of the Christmas rush. Rejoice in the department store decor and Christmas mall music.

For extra Christmas feels, put on a red, white, green, or gold outfit. It really keeps everything festive.

Take part in traditions — or make your own!

Traditions are the backbone of Christmas. Be it watching Christmas movies with the fam every night or baking Christmas cookies with your grandma — they all feel like home, one way or another.

If you don’t practice any particular Christmas tradition, make your own! You can gather your friends for some gingerbread making or volunteer at a local charity. Any new tradition is a fun one.
