PSA: Here Are Details Of Art Fair Philippines 2022

While the ongoing pandemic has prohibited popular in-person events such as Art Fair Philippines, organizers have adjusted to the demand of the times. Here’s what we know about the 2022 edition of the art event so far:

Art Fair Philippines 2022 is to be held from February 23 to March 2, 2022. Yes, that means the event will be held for a whole week. Will it be a virtual event or will people finally get to see the works of art in person? That remains to be known.

To put things into perspective, in-person events are still discouraged due to the threat of the new Omicron variant. However, since the Ayala Museum and National Museum have recently opened their doors once again to the public, you shouldn’t necessarily count out the possibility.

In 2020 and 2021, Art Fair Philippines canceled its annual physical event. Instead, they hosted a virtual exhibit and a series of live-streamed talks on the digital side of the art world, such as NFTs, crypto art, and cryptocurrency.

If you follow the local art scene, you probably know what Art Fair Philippines is, but if you’re not, basically, it’s an annual platform for exhibiting and selling modern and contemporary Philippine visual art to Filipinos. Helmed by Philippine Art Events, Inc. (PAEI), the fair aims to mirror the vibrant local art scene and generate support for Filipino artists.

For years, it’s been a fantastic platform for people from the metro to discover the exquisite pieces of local artists. Art enthusiasts flocked to the event to check out the latest works of their favorite artists and discover other locals they might not have heard of.

Even if you can’t afford these artists’ pieces, the event still attracted a lot of foot traffic because of the Instagram-worthy pieces on display. You just had to pay a small amount if you want to check out the artwork.

What’s awesome about the event is that pieces were still on display even if they were already sold to art enthusiasts. The curators also changed the display on a daily basis. This meant that you can visit the gallery every day it was held, and could possibly see something new.
Will the 2022 edition of the event be another virtual exhibit or will we finally get to see the artworks ourselves? Follow Art Fair Philippines on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
