Aside from creating Baguio’s popular ube jam, she was also known for starting the Marian Bakery, where the angel cookies we know today started. “[She] creatively made use of host cuttings for the delicious ‘crispies’, the forerunner of the angel cookies,” RGS said.

Even with her old age, “her hands were never weary” and she continued to do good work, such as collecting and cutting plastic waste to fill eco-bricks. In her last years at the Good Shepherd Community in Quezon City, she spent most of her time “in quiet communion with the Good Shepherd whom she adored all her life.”

She’s also loved by the children in the community, who regarded her as their “oldest playmate.” “She was a delight and a source of joy to everyone whom she met,” RGS said.

Sr. Fidelis spent 66 years in religious life and had various ministries in Baguio, Cebu, Manila, Quezon City, Tagaytay, France, Hong Kong, and Rome.

The remains of Sr. Fidelis will be at the chapel of Good Shepherd Convent in Quezon City, while the inurnment will be at Good Shepherd Columbary, also in Quezon City.
