If you always find yourself rushing to use up all your data before it expires, here’s a piece of good news: Globe Telecom’s newest GB to Points feature lets prepaid and postpaid users maximize their money’s worth by converting their unused mobile data into Globe Rewards points or GCash credit.
According to Globe Chief Commercial Officer Issa Cabreira, the new feature turns data into an even more flexible commodity as it can be converted into redeemable goods, making it “as good as cash.”
“Kung hindi mo magamit, magagamit mo sa ibang bagay… Mapapakinabangan mo siya, walang sayang, walang tapon. Lalo na sa panahon ngayon na lahat ng tao nag-o-optimize,” Cabreira said.
Data conversions can be done through the Globe One app or the Globe Rewards app.
For prepaid users, every 1GB of data is equal to 1 reward point, while postpaid users can get 10 rewards points for the same.
Rewards points can then be used to redeem everyday services such as GrabFood deliveries, a Premium Viu subscription, Razer pins, and Lazada vouchers. They can also be converted into GCash credits and other relevant GCash services.
There is no limit to how much data you can convert to points. However, Globe reminds users that the “promo is subject to the transaction cap of five (5) Globe Rewards transactions per day (except for BUY or Points-As-Cash transactions) and for gifting, it’s once a day only,” per the feature’s terms of use.
In addition, you can only convert active, all-access data as granted by valid Globe Prepaid, Postpaid, Platinum, TM, and Globe at Home Prepaid WiFi promos. If your promo only grants you data that you can use for specific mobile apps, then you wouldn’t be able to convert them to reward points.
Lastly, remember to leave just enough data to avoid being charged with Globe’s regular mobile browsing rates (P5 for every 15 minutes).
To start using the GB to Points feature, simply download the GlobeOne app. On your dashboard, click “Convert Data,” then input the amount of data you want to convert, then click “Convert.” Wait for up to 24 hours, and voila! You can now use your newly converted Globe Rewards points to redeem the promos and vouchers you want.
