Fort Santiago is open again!

Now that Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, collectively called NCR Plus, are now officially under “General Community Quarantine with Heightened Restrictions,” outdoor attractions are allowed to open at 30% capacity once again. 

In line with this, the Intramuros Administration announced via Facebook that it is re-opening Fort Santiago and Baluarte de San Diego beginning May 17, Monday. Before you head to Intramuros to talk a walk in the past though, be wary of the following health and safety protocols:

1. One should get in line while social distancing (at least one meter apart).
2. One should scan the entry QR code before entering the premises.
3. One should show proof of submission before entering the grounds.
4. One should have their temperature taken.

While it’s exciting that more places are opening up for people to explore again, it’s important to follow proper protocols not only to safeguard your own health and safety, but of other people as well. Amid everything going on, visiting a gorgeous attraction within the city might just be the little escape you need. 

“The reopening of Fort Santiago and Baluarte San Diego will allow visitors to again experience the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction as recognized by the prestigious World Tourism Awards,” said Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat in a statement.Fort Santiago is located at Sta. Clara corner General Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila City. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The venue will accommodate a maximum of 200 pax at a time only. Baluarte de San Diego is at Sta. Lucia Street, Intramuros, Manila City. It is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It will allow only 100 pax to enter at a time.
