Last week, Disney Cruise Line unveiled its latest and perhaps most ambitious ship: the Disney Wish, which is set to hit the waters in the summer of next year.
Aside from being the biggest Disney cruise ship ever, the Disney Wish is also set to be the first Disney attraction at sea, combining the storybook charm of a century’s worth of Disney tales with state-of-the-art technology that will manifest its theme of enchantment in many wondrous ways to adults and children alike.
The planned 144,000-gross ton cruise ship will be able to accommodate 1,555 crew members and 4,000 guests inside the Disney Wish’s 1,250 staterooms.
The most remarkable addition to the Disney Wish is found at its atrium: the Grand Hall, an airy and elegant space that resembles the castle in Cinderella with its ornate chandelier, gilded Cinderella statue, and winding staircase. The cruise ship will also have the spacious and spectacular Walt Disney Theatre that can seat 1,274 people to watch stage performances.
Another exciting and family-friendly attraction is the AquaMouse, a 760-foot long winding water ride complete with show scenes, lighting and special effects, and “splash-tacular” surprises.
Families who simply want to unwind can do so in one of the six pools spaciously staggered among tiered decks in an expansive district that features Mickey and Friends. Another option is to enjoy the sun-drenched serenity of the Quiet Cove, an adult-only area where they can escape to their own secluded space.
Mealtimes are also made more magical inside the Disney Wish. There will be three culinary-themed restaurants and bars aboard the vessel: the Enchanté, Palo Steakhouse, The Rose, and 1923, named after the year the Walt Disney Company was founded.
But if you want the Disney distinction even while dining, you can get that too, through the Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Experience, Disney’s first “Frozen”-themed theatrical dining experience. There’s also the Worlds of Marvel boasting a worldly culinary menu inspired by the MCU, and the much-talked-about Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a high-end bar offering signature beverages straight from the Star Wars realm.
Tailored for children, Disney Wish’s interactive, imaginative, and immersive facilities use high-tech features that allow young ones to explore both the real and fantastic world. Enter the Marvel Superhero Academy to train to be the next generation of superheroes; the Fairytale Hall to bring out the creative storyteller in you, or the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, to exercise the mind through inventive experiments that power Disney’s resorts, theme parks, and vessels across the globe.
Disney Wish is just the first of three ships that Disney Cruise Line plans to unveil until 2025. The upcoming cruise ship also sets the distinction as the first Disney vessel to be powered by liquefied natural gas.
Its maiden cruise is slated for June 2022 with three and four-night cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida to Nassau and Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island, in the Bahamas.
