UP Open University offers online courses this year that you can take at your own pace… from home! The best part is, they’re absolutely free!
UP Open University Free Online Courses: Learning For All
Touted as the MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), the university made the announcement in January 2023. Aside from being free, they’re also open to everyone and are fully self-paced. The subjects vary and are all meant to “serve your personal and educational goals.” This includes but is not limited to:
- Basic graphic design
- Crisis management
- Gender sensitivity
- Parenting
- Social entrepreneurship
- Strategic planning
- Video editing
Resume-Worthy
“At the end of each course, e-certificates will be awarded to course completers which you may include in your resume as a 16-hour training,” the UPOU post states.
To enroll in any or all of the courses, it’s key to have a MODeL account. Here’s how to do it:
1. Fill out this registration form: https://bit.ly/upoumodel_signup
2. Wait for an email containing your login credentials. Login credentials will only be sent Thursdays of every week. Cut-off for each week is 4PM, Wednesdays. Requests received after the cut-off will be sent the following week.
3. Upon receiving the email, sign in to your new MODeL account.
4. You will be asked to change your password. UPOU recommends a strong password that you don’t use for any other websites.

Online teaching and learning is nothing new for UPOU, who have been at it for years now. These UP Open University free online courses are just another feather in their cap as they move towards progressive, widespread education for the Filipino people.
