Ayanna Williams, the woman with the “World’s Longest Fingernails” record, finally had her nails cut off through a procedure held in Texas, USA. The Guinness World Record titleholder’s fingernails had a total length of 24 feet and 0.7 inches which took her over 28 years to grow.

Dr. Allison Readinger of the Trinity Vista Dermatology had to use an electric rotary tool to cut off Ayanna’s nails, since a regular nail clipper won’t be able to do the job.
Prior to the procedure, Ayanna was emotional but also said that she’s ready to let them go. “I’ve been growing my nails for a few decades now. I’m so, so ready for a new life. I know I’m going to miss them, but it’s just about that time–it’s time for them to go,” she said.
Ayanna, who works as a nail technician, would really take the time to color and style her nails, even though it would her take a few days to finish them. She said, “With or without my nails, I will still be the queen. My nails don’t make me, I make my nails!”
On display
Ayanna’s nails will be put on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando, Florida.
“It’s gonna be awesome. It’s going to be like a wax of myself even though it’s just my nails. I can’t wait to see that, for real. I’m going to be grinning from ear to ear. Just really think about it, it’s amazing,” she said.
Ayanna’s nails were first recognized in 2017 and featured a year later in the Guinness World Records. Back then, it only measured 18 feet and 10.9 inches long.
However, the record for the longest nails ever (female category) still belongs to Lee Redmond from Utah, USA. She started growing her nails in 1979 which reached a total of 28 feet and 4.5 inches in length.
