Vlogger and beauty influencer Bretman Rock earned praises on social media after he insisted on buying products from a local beauty brand in the Philippines even if he was offered to have them for free.
We often hear stories about influencers taking advantage of the power they hold to influence others by leveraging absurd deals from brands or, in some cases, ask them to give their products for free in exchange for a post. While it’s different from one case to another, it’s certainly a different issue altogether if we talk about someone with millions of followers, who, basically, has the right to demand considering its number of reach.
But such is not the case for Bretman who otherwise did a commendable act after he sent a message to a Filipina entrepreneur on Instagram to buy products from a Pampanga-based beauty brand called Niks Skin.
On Facebook, a netizen named Glaiz shared a “receipt” of the conversation she had with Bretman showing how the internet star politely declined her offer to give him the products he intended to purchase. These included ten pieces each of lip and cheek serum and miracle mousse.
“I would like to please pay for it if that’s cool with you. And I want 10 lip oils and miracle mousse. I love supporting smaller brands,” the 22-year-old Filipino-American social media personality told Glaiz.
As of writing, the post has already garnered more than 95,000 reactions and 30,000 shares.
Meanwhile, Nicole A. Ablan II — the founder and CEO of Niks Skin — couldn’t help but share her kilig after Bretman promoted her products during a live streaming session of the popular online multiplayer game “Among Us.”
She wrote: “He said he’s been using Niks Skin Magic Serum. Sobra Bretman! He really loves it! Sobrang kilig ako!”
Bretman — who has collaborated with some of the biggest beauty brands in the past — proved all it takes is trust in products he believes in, no matter how big or small. And that says a lot!
