Jennifer Aniston is the latest celebrity to venture into the hair care industry.
The 52-year-old actress, who’s been developing her own hair care line LolaVie for the past five years, has officially launched the brand on September 8, 2021. She also introduced its first product, a detangling spray made with plant-based ingredients.
“Meet our very first product to launch, the Glossing Detangler. 🤠Think of this spray as the best friend you call every day (who always supports you and wants to see you become stronger over time),” LolaVie posted on Instagram.
For the name LolaVie, Jennifer combined two words that matter to her: the name she gave her first car, “Lola” (which eventually became her own nickname, too), and the French word for life, “vie.”
“When I [arrived in California] and bought my very first car, a used car, somebody said to me, ‘What did you name it?’ And I looked at them and I went, ‘Is that something you do?’ And they were like, ‘Uh, yeah!’ So I named my car Lola on the spot,” she told People Magazine.
“Maybe it’s because I love that song [Sarah Vaughan‘s ‘Whatever Lola Wants’]. Then every time I’d come over, they’d be like, ‘Lola’s here’. So it just kind of became a name that I was called whenever I showed up [somewhere].”
For the second half of the name, she told Allure: “‘Vie’ means life. So I wanted to incorporate the idea of living my life and being authentic.”
Although only one product has been released so far, LolaVie promises that all its products will contain only the best ingredients for your hair.
Just like the Glossing Detangler which is made with chia, bamboo, and lemon, LolaVie’s other products are “made with plant-based, naturally-derived ingredients–and without parabens, silicones, sulfates, phthalates, and gluten… and of course we are vegan and cruelty-free!”
