5 Simple Celebrity Weddings We Love, From Megan and Mikael to Alex and Mikee

Celebrity weddings are often grand celebrations, complete with multiple outfit changes, dreamy receptions, and picture-perfect locations, all attended by the most notable people in Philippine society. But these five newlywed couples are setting the trend of going low-key–and proved that opting for a simple wedding could be just as memorable.

Here are five celebrity couples, whose simple wedding celebrations we absolutely loved:

1. Megan Young and Mikael Daez

This longtime couple surprised us last year when they dropped photos of their wedding on Instagram–on the very same day that they got married!

Although they had two weddings, both were simple and elegant. Only 10 people were in attendance for their first wedding on January 10, 2020, where Megan wore a one-shoulder wrap dress that falls just below her knees, while Mikael wore a light brown suit.

For their second wedding on January 25, 2020, the groom donned a beige suit while the bride wore a sheer, long-sleeved gown designed by Patricia Santos. Megan later on changed into a sleeveless dress and traded her low bun for a ponytail for the reception.

Megan and Mikael recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary and moved out of their first home with plans of residing in Megan’s hometown in Subic.

2. Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez

The long-awaited wedding of this couple was supposed to be attended by a large group of people, but with the start of the nationwide quarantine in March 2020, the couple had to adapt.

“The big gathering to celebrate with all our loved ones, friends and colleagues will have to wait because we care more about everyone’s safety and health,” Sarah and Richard both posted on Instagram.

Despite the pandemic, Sarah and Richard still got married on March 14, 2020 in the presence of their families. The bride looked beautiful in an off-shoulder white dress, while the groom wore a black button-down and slacks, topped with a cream-colored suit.

One of the most talked about celebrity couples at the start of 2020 was #AshMatt, whose wedding celebration also came as a surprise despite the announcement of their engagement in November 2019.
