Despite businesses closing left and right, and retail stores shifting to digital platforms for sustained growth, American sportswear brand Champion wades against the tides by unveiling their first brick-and-mortar here in Manila this month.

Sharing the air with other big clothing brands inside SM Megamall’s Fashion Hall, Champion revealed its signature red-white-and-blue “C” logo on a larger variety of apparel which only used to be available through haute couture retailers and high-end department stores. Now, aside from their usual sweatshirts, subscribers to the “hypebeast” style can cop the Champion look with their track pants, pullovers, varsity jackets, caps, and tank tops.

Champion may seem like a hit novelty today, but 90s kids would probably notice the sportswear brand from their elementary school’s Physical Education days, wearing their recognizable white rubber shoes. Fortunately, the brand was able to make its return to the forefront thanks to the younger generation who served as the demand for more premium athleisure apparel.

Today, Champion stands as the second-largest brand under Hanes, and has collaborated with other top streetwear brands and designers like Craig Green, General Mills, Rick Owens, and most recently, Supreme. In the Philippines, Champion joins the banner of the Anthem Group, responsible for bringing premium apparel lines like Original Penguin, Perry Ellis, Ben Sherman, and Nautica, among others, to the Philippine market.

Splurge on the best of athleisure style by visiting their store in the Ground Level of SM Megamall’s Fashion Hall. You can also keep up with their latest promotions by liking their Facebook page.
