Heads up, shoppers: Topshop, Burton, Dorothy Perkins are set to close this April

You might want to schedule your shopping spree soon, because shops of popular UK fast fashion brands Topshop, Topman, Burton, and Dorothy Perkins, are set to shutter for good by April 2021.

The closure follows the announcement that their principal, British multinational retail company Arcadia Group, collapsed into administration in November 2020, which also put around 13,000 jobs in the UK at risk.

Locally, Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. Vice-President for Corporate Planning Gina Roa-Dapling, confirmed the closure earlier this week. RRHI holds the franchise of these brands in the Philippines.

However, it was also announced in early February that online fashion retailers ASOS and Boohoo have both bought the various brands under Arcadia’s umbrella. ASOS purchased Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, and HIIT for £265 million, while Boohoo acquired Dorothy Perkins, Burton, and Wallis for £25.2 million.

However, neither of them have taken any brick-and-mortar stores, and only claimed the stock, the brands, and their respective online businesses.
