In recent years, sportswear giant Adidas has shown their commitment in reducing their overall carbon footprint. With releases such as their Primegreen and Primeblue line that are made of upcycled plastic wastes, as well as initiatives such as the ULTRABOOST DNA Loop that moves towards circular systems of recycling, Adidas proves to be a great ally in the fight to End Plastic Waste.
Now, the household name in athletics takes another stride towards sustainability with the release of “Stan Smith, Forever,” an environmentally conscious take on the classic tennis sneakers.
Reminiscent of the same comfortable wear and minimalist style that made the Stan Smiths iconic, the new collection has one remarkable improvement: they’re made of 100% eco-friendly materials.
Created with upcycled polyester and no virgin plastics, the returning Stan Smiths come in three unique iterations. The first two iterations both boast white PRIMEGREEN uppers, a high-performance fabric woven with recycled materials, stitched onto white recycled rubber outsoles.
The women’s iteration features an all-white synthetic upper with the heel and collar sporting planet-inspired doodles, a white heel tab, and an ivory tongue graphic.
The much simpler second iteration features embossed with planet-inspired graphics, a pair of golden eyelets, and the popular green and semi-coral heel tab that’s distinctive of the Stans.
Completing the collection is the newer iteration that features an all-white upper with a mix of Trefoil prints and Mother Nature-inspired embroidery throughout the upper and the tongue. The pair bears an uncanny resemblance to the 2020 SUPEREARTH Superstar launched in collaboration with Sean Wotherspoon.
All iterations are made with the standard closed-lacing system and PU coating sourced from Japan. To emphasize their thrust towards sustainability, even the Adidas Originals blue box will be produced with 90% recycled paper.
All pairs in the Stan Smith, Forever collection are priced at P4,800 and are available at adidas.com/stansmith.
