Perfect for when you can’t choose between goth or kawaii.
The last time Dr. Martens and Sanrio teamed up, Hello Kitty was the highlight of the collection to celebrate both company’s 60th anniversary. This time, the British footwear brand is bringing more members of the Sanrio family into the fold.
Officially released on Thursday, the Hello Kitty And Friends collection features other characters from the Sanrio ensemble like Keroppi, Badtz-Maru, Cinnamoroll, Pom Pom Purin, and My Melody on the surface of its signature soft-leather boots.
The Sanrio graphics are featured in three classic Doc Martens styles: on the 1460 Hello Kitty & Friends leather boots, the characters are drawn in bright hues on the smooth leather upper. It’s also built with heart-shaped “color pop top” eyelets, detachable red bows, and comes with two sets of either red or white laces. The 1460 leather boots also come in an iteration for kids. The 1460 leather boots retail for $160 (about P7,800).
Meanwhile, the low-top 1461 Hello Kitty & Friends leather shoes are detailed with a colorful all-over silhouette print of Sanrio graphics. Aside from the same heart-shaped eyelets and detachable bow, it’s also adorned with a heart key chain and two sets of silk laces. The 1461 leather shoes retail for $130 (about P6,300).
Lastly, the Jadon Hello Kitty & Friends leather platform boots are finished with similar Sanrio graphics on the outer, heart-shaped eyelets, pairs of laces, and an inner ankle zip with a Hello Kitty bow pull tab. The Jadon platform boots retail for $200 (about P9,700).
Operating for more than 60 years, Dr. Martens footwear is famous for its distinct yellow stitching and its “Bouncing Soles,” trademark air-cushioned soles that make its leather boots and platform shoes deceivingly light to wear.
