Millie Bobby Brown’s Third Collaboration with Converse Celebrates Women Empowerment

Converse released a new collection made by two talented women just in time for Women’s History Month. Millie Bobby Brown and Pauline Wattanodom teamed up to create the new “Millie By You” collection.

“Having this collection [come] out now is perfect timing. Equality and empowerment mean a lot to me. Converse has always given me a voice to talk about things that are important to me,” Millie said.

Third collaboration

At the young age of 17, the “Stranger Things” actress already has a total of three collaborations with Converse. Her first project with the home of the Chuck Taylor All-Stars was released in July 2019, followed by another one in November 2019.

For Millie’s most recent collaboration, she chose to work with Pauline Wattanodom, an artist from Thailand and a member of the Converse All Star community. Millie said that among the Converse All Stars team members, Pauline stood out for her the most because of the “colors, graphics, and message of positivity and strength” in her creations.

The hand-drawn print on the shoes, which they call “pinky promise,” features two hands wearing friendship bracelets with strings that intertwine. Showing the gesture of the design’s name, the hands also have their pinkies linked together.

What makes this collection even more fun is that you could choose between getting pre-designed or customized shoes! You can change the colors of your pair’s tongue, heel stripe, print, stitch, eyelets, medial patch logo, and racing stripe. You can even opt to add words on the heel stripe! See how you can customize a pair on the Converse website.

Sisterhood and female empowerment

The “Millie By You” Converse collection “celebrates female empowerment, self-expression and progress.” Pauline said that the design was inspired by bonds between women, such as the ones that they have with their sisters.

“Millie and I both have a sister, so we wanted to use sisterhood to support the central concept of girl power. We want the girls who wear these shoes to feel confident about who they are and know that we girls will always support each other, like sisters,” Pauline said.

The girls also said that they hope these shoes could help people express themselves and empower whoever wears them. As Millie put it, “Empowered women empower women. The more people empower me, the more I want to empower people. That’s a never-ending cycle of amazing women, like Pauline.”

This collection really came out at just the right time. Happy International Women’s Month!
