Are you ready for IKEA?
The world’s largest IKEA is officially opening its doors to eager shoppers on November 25 in the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City. The opening comes after consistent delays in the past due to COVID-19 restrictions in the Philippines.
Those who are ready to cross off items on their Christmas list will get to enjoy a vast shopping space; the area of the building is reportedly 65,000 square meters — roughly the size of 150 basketball courts. The five-story building will include retail operations, a warehouse, a restaurant, and a call center for the e-commerce side of the business, among others.
“More than 500 co-workers have been hard at work preparing for this very special day, and we are all very excited to open our doors and show what IKEA is all about,” said Georg Platzer, store manager of IKEA Pasay City. “It has been a challenging couple of years, but we are proud that even through a pandemic, we are now ready to build a better everyday life with the many people in the Philippines.”
Despite the huge site, shoppers should still expect COVID-19 protocols and limitations on exactly how many people can visit the branch in a day. IKEA has announced, however, that IKEA family members will be among the first to get early access to shopping slots.
“Safety continues to be our number one priority, which is why we are taking the necessary steps to safeguard everyone when they visit our Pasay City store,” Platzer explained. “I ask visitors for their patience and compliance with the booking system we have in place. Rest assured that our team is ready to serve you and provide the best possible IKEA experience on your scheduled booking.”
