K-Pop “Scent-sations”: Buy Your BTS Bias’s Favorite Perfume

Here’s what RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook smell like.

A few years ago, 1theK asked some K-pop idols what their favorite perfume was. The music content production agency then posted the idols’ answers on Twitter.

As you can see, 1theK approached BTS. We at FreebieMNL took note of the boys’ answers and did a bit of research. Not only did we find out some interesting trivia about their favorite scents, but we also found out where you can buy them.

RM – Chanel No. 5 Body Lotion (Buy it here)

BTS’s fearless leader doesn’t use cologne or perfume. He prefers to slather himself with Chanel No. 5 Body Lotion instead. The lotion was based on the first perfume Coco Chanel launched in 1921. Leading beauty and style website Byrdie says its scent is “a highly complex blend of aldehydes and florals—including rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine, lily of the valley, and iris—layered over a warm, woody base of vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and patchouli.” It wraps the skin in a delicate moisturizing veil for eight hours. 

Jin – Philosykos by Diptyque (Buy it here)

A couple of years ago, a Korean plastic surgeon analyzed Jin’s face. According to him, the secret of Jin’s beauty is that it’s feminine and masculine at the same time. So it makes sense that Jin favors a woody aromatic fragrance for women and men. It was created by Olivia Giacobetti and launched in 1966. Now Smell This says this perfume “smells like the whole fig grove, including the trees and the warm earth.” It adds, “while the fig note itself is sweet and creamy, the sweetness is tempered by other notes and is never overwhelming.”

SUGA – Invictus by Paco Rabanne (Buy it here)

As any ARMY worth their salt knows, BTS debuted in June 2013. Paco Rabanne launched Invictus a month later, in July. “Invictus” is Latin for “invincible,” which makes it a perfect choice for someone belonging to a group called the Bulletproof Boy Scouts. It’s a fresh, intense fragrance with amber, patchouli, and wood notes. When SUGA raps, he embodies dynamism, energy, and power—things this perfume represents.

j-hope – Terre d’Hermès by Hermes (Buy it here)

This perfume was launched by the French fashion house Hermès in 2006. It’s “fruity-spicy-woody,” with grapefruit and orange top notes, pepper heart or middle notes, and woody base notes (including cedar, patchouli, and vetiver). It’s perfect for j-hope because it packs quite a punch. He’s the lead rapper and main dancer of BTS, and his stage presence is powerful and strong—two words that describe Terre d’Hermès.

Jimin – Orange Blossom by Jo Malone (Buy it here)

Jimin’s favorite cologne has notes of clementine, iris, orange blossom, vetiver, and water lilies. Some say it smells like summer in a bottle. According to the Jo Malone team, although the orange blossom is small, it’s “mighty and able to fill churches with its shimmering, floral fragrance.” That certainly sounds like Jimin. Among ARMY, he’s known as the group’s “recruiting fairy” because he attracts so many new fans. Furthermore, although he’s often been teased about his height, Jimin’s considerable charm and talent enable him to stand head and shoulders above many K-pop idols.

V – Aveeno Stress Relief Lotion (Buy it here)

Aveeno Stress Relief Lotion combines chamomile and ylang-ylang essential oils with a lavender scent. It can help reduce someone’s stress levels when massaged into their skin. The colloidal oatmeal in it also helps moisturize skin for 24 hours. Being part of the biggest boyband in the world must be very stressful, so it’s no wonder that V uses this lotion to unwind after a long day in the recording studio or on tour.

Jungkook – Omnia Paraiba by Bvlgari (Buy it here)

When BTS made Vanity Fair’s annual best-dressed list in 2019, their youngest member said, “Great style is wearing anything you like regardless of gender.” That explains why he favors Bvlgari’s Omnia Paraiba. Launched in October 2015, it’s a floral, fruity women’s fragrance named after the Brazilian semi-precious stone Paraiba Tourmaline. By using it, BTS’s Golden Maknae proves that smelling good knows no gender.
