Since we’re a few days away from welcoming 2023, Airbnb is wrapping up the year by revealing its top destinations and Airbnb Categories of stays in 2022. Aside from that, Airbnb also provides a sneak peek at the top travel destinations that 2023 has in store.
This year, Pinoy Airbnb guests found themselves most enjoying a tropical getaway or relaxing by the poolside. In terms of Airbnb categories, Tropical and Amazing Pools were the favorite and are the most-booked homes for Filipino guests. Beachfront, surfing, lake houses, national parks, and golf were just some of the top choices of this year’s local travelers.
Tropical state of mind
Since travelers loved nature and the sea this year, the top domestic destinations—that’ll also be the top trending travel spots in 2023—are Cebu City, Lapu Lapu City in Cebu, El Nido and Coron in Palawan, Baguio in the north, and Pasay and Mandaluyong in Metro Manila. If you’re like most Airbnb guests who loved surfing, La Union and Siargao are also on top of the list.
If you’re planning your “revenge travel” or simply would like to explore overseas next year, it’s time to put your passports to good use and start a new adventure. According to Airbnb’s latest data, the top travel spots for international travel next year for Filipinos are Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, and South Korea.
It’s more fun in the Philippines
On the other hand, ever since the Philippines eased up on travel restrictions and opened its borders to tourists, the country welcomed a significant influx of inbound tourists on Airbnb. This year, Singaporeans topped the list. Airbnb’s data also revealed that the top origin cities of guests visiting the Philippines aside from Singapore are Seoul, Los Angeles, London, and Sydney.
