Plan an Eco-Friendly Vacation Post Pandemic

We go on vacations to take care of our well-being, but that doesn’t mean we can’t care for the environment while doing so. Supporting sustainable tourism won’t compromise the quality of our vacations so we might as well try to make a conscious choice. These are some of the things you might want to consider when planning for your post pandemic trip.

Visit Local Destinations

Before booking that international flight, why not visit one of the beautiful islands of the Philippines. You won’t need to spend extra on travel documents like passports and visas. At the same time, you minimize carbon emissions. There are also lots of historical sites you can visit if you prefer to travel by land.

Choose a Green Hotel

Survey shows that Filipinos now prefer sustainable hotels, which is a huge plus for a country that’s vast with natural resources. While no establishment is perfect, some have recycling programs, try to be energy efficient, or use environmentally friendly products like shampoo bars. Likewise, you should be a responsible guest and do your part.

Go Camping

Instead of a night out at a bar, gather around a campfire and pass time having meaningful conversations and a few drinks. Then in the morning, sober up on a nature trail walk and soak in all the sun. Don’t forget to take a photo of the picturesque landscape so you can have a souvenir to take home.

Have a Picnic

Find an Airbnb near a park to staycation in with family or friends. Bring a picnic basket and a banig so you can all breathe in the fresh air and enjoy a meal outdoors. Just make sure to properly dispose of any trash and bring reusable plates and cutlery to reduce plastic waste.

Everyone can have an eco-friendly vacation if they do a little more research and plan ahead. Appreciate the natural beauty of what the country has to offer before they’re all gone.
