As more world-class tourist destinations such as Siargao and Boracay welcome wanderlusts to their white-sand beaches once more, another stunning spot is also set to accept vacationers: Palawan’s idyllic island of Coron.

According to Executive Order No. 117 signed by Coron Mayor Mario Reyes, the municipality has started accommodating fully vaccinated tourists coming from NCR Plus since September 22 through a point-to-point bubble tourism policy

Under the said policy, only fully vaccinated tourists with confirmed bookings will be allowed admission into the island, while unvaccinated minors should be accompanied by fully vaccinated parents, legal guardians, or elder siblings. What counts as fully vaccinated are those who have taken either their first or second dose 15 days before their expected arrival at the island.

To enter Coron, non-residents of Palawan must present the following requirements:

  • Vaccination card as proof of full vaccination;
  • Negative RT-PCR test result taken within 48 hours before your flight;
  • Hotel reservation from any establishment accredited by the Department of Tourism, and;
  • S-Pass registration

Aside from the usual practices stated under health and safety protocols, the bubble tourism policy for Coron also includes mandatory checking of travel requirements at the Tourism Info Desk inside Coron Airport, disinfection of luggage upon arrival, and the one-time payment of Palawan’s Environmental Fee set at P200.

In addition, only guests who reside in the same household can occupy the same room, and guests must stay within the resort’s premises at all times.

The policy also requires hotels and staycation venues to have their entire staff fully vaccinated and compliant with Safety Seal Certification. They should also afford their guests direct point-to-point transport or a short transfer arrangement from their point of origin to the hotel venue.

Meanwhile, Councilor Rica Reyes, Coron’s health and tourism committee chairperson, also confirmed that the island will start accepting travelers from all over the Philippines starting November 15
