The much-awaited reboot of the video game staple Microsoft Flight Simulator landed last August 18, and it’s providing everyone the best alternative to flying around the world, including an excruciatingly detailed depiction of the Philippine geography. We bet you could even spy at your office from within the game!
Aggregated from about two petabytes worth of data provided by Google Maps (who is, ironically, Microsoft’s fierce contender), Microsoft Flight Simulator renders a hyper-accurate representation of every major city, landmark, terrain, and airport on Earth. As a result, the game will likely take up a whopping 150GB of your computer’s memory.

Peep the gigantic globe in front of SM Mall of Asia, the tall towers and buildings spread across Ortigas and Bonifacio Global City, and the bayside view of Manila Bay.
In another video, YouTuber Raffy Manicane set out from Legazpi Airport’s runways and flew around the perfectly conical shape of Mayon Volcano.
In another video by US YouTuber MajinBanu, the plane can be seen flying through Hurricane Laura as it neared the US Gulf Coast
For its deeply accurate real-world graphics, Microsoft Flight Simulator comes as the highest scored PC Game of the Year on review platform Metacritic, outscoring other acclaimed games such as Xbox One’s Ori and the Will of the Wisps and VR’s Half-Life: Alyx and tying PS4’s The Last of Us Part 2.
Of course, Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn’t follow the same archetype as has these other games, and it has an extremely niche and extremely devoted market, which probably explains the rave reviews.
Nonetheless, it’s in a league of its own, and we definitely look forward to seeing more virtual pilots feature their Philippine discoveries in the game!
