Who is the Squid Game doll?

In the series, she’s introduced as a laser-eyed doll that takes contestants through a gory version of the children’s game “Red Light, Green Light.” If watching her on-screen didn’t terrify you, you might be interested in paying a visit to her hometown. Yes, she exists outside the game and is from a town in South Korea.

Where is she from?

According to Koreaboo, visitors can find the doll at Jincheon County in Chungcheongbok-do. The town is known as South Korea’s horse carriage village and has a museum dedicated to the wagons called Macha Land, where the doll guards the entrance. It’s located just outside of Seoul, which is about a 2-to-3-hour journey via commute.

Returning Home

The doll already existed before the filming of Squid Game. Netflix’s production team borrowed it for a short time and has since returned her to her home. However, she appears to be missing a hand, which isn’t surprising but adds to the terrifying persona.

Making its way to the Philippines

Filipinos easily got hooked on this Korean action drama and were quick to adopt the trend. A replica of the giant doll was put up at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas Mall (East Wing Entrance) in Manila and caught the attention of many passersby. It was installed outside the shopping center, complete with a moving head and flashing red eyes, to prevent pedestrians from jaywalking.

If you haven’t watched Squid Game, give it a try, and see what the rave is all about.
